A daily slice of life through my eyes

Thanks John Green!

So Saturday night I decided to take this 'hottie' out on a date for some much needed alone time. I got dressed up after gym and found myself hand in hand - with me! Date night with my happy yet somewhat melancholic self, "A Fault In Our Stars", seemed like the most obvious choice.

So there I sat in my seat, popcorn and Coke in hand. Knowing this was going to pull at my heartstrings, I prepped my tissues, one in each pocket, and took a deep breath as the intro music started.

The movie starts as anticipated, Hazel Grace the cancer victim and anything but the typical heroine of this story. I dig myself deeper into the seat, cloaking myself in my oversized jacket - away from the view of fellow patrons.
As the 2 hour movie progresses and I can feel my heavy heart is going to erupt up through my throat and eventually out of my eyes. Your heart would need to be made of steel not be moved by such suffering.

Thanks John Green!

No doubt you've not yet seen the movie, if you're lucky you can still catch it on DVD or even better, buy the book by Author John Green. Green brings to life the characters of Hazel Grace and Angus Waters in this legendary love story and tale of life and death.

But one doesn't have to have had first hand experience with cancer to understand the struggle and bravery one would need to fight for your life. The movie is an excellent reminder of all that we take for granted, all that we fail to appreciate with our urgency to live fast and win hard.

Do yourself a favour and get the movie. It's fantastic and my favourite of the year so far.
