Ocean Paradise Perspective

Pablo Picasso said, "Everything you can imagine is real". Those were the words I went to bed with last night and believe me I'm pumped this morning.

I've always been a lucid dreamer, but of late the dreams have been few and far between along with my sleep. Last night I was taken to the most beautiful part of the ocean, a paradise that I'm sure only exists in the imaginations of Sea World and Walt Disney combined.

Imagine standing on an underwater shore. Everything around you looks like the beach but you're submerged. You're stable and manage to stand and move without being manipulated by the current, in front of you sea life is blooming in brilliant colour.

As I stand on this 'beach', ahead of me is a dark blue abyss of deep waters where the sunrise would usually be.  That my friends, is where our main character will be emerging from just now.

Opening Act

Golden fish dart and flit in their shoal, showing off their skills for me to capture on my iPhone. I still recall showing these pictures to a bystander on my beach and saying "These are going to be on BBC". The displays before us were so epic, so perfect and so breathtaking. I was sure that my golden fish shoals were going to make the front page of something. No one had captured anything like this before and here I was, in the front row!

As if well rehearsed and with precision timing, these golden fish group together and show off just for me. I'm at peace, there is no fear and my iPhone camera memory is infinite. Everything around me is in it's perfect "flow", it's like watching a underwater symphony in 3D for an audience of one.

Dance with me

As I stand taking in the beauty, two children run up a shallow stream to my left chasing a colony of rabbits. Suddenly, a familiar rumble occurs and the deep, penetrating sound of whales can be heard. There is no fear, it is simply the call to dance.

Out of the blue horizon before me, swims three majestic beauties. They enter to the left of me, making their slow passage to center stage.  At this moment the entire world, my world, is in unison and the harmony that abounds, is confirmation that all is as it should be.

As these colossal beasts swim before me, everything around me is at it's fullest and most perfect existence. My heart overflows with respect and appreciation for the environment I'm submerged in. I am connected and I'm at peace. And then suddenly I realise that there are others on my beach that cannot see the beauty I see.

They take photographs for the sake of it, not for the love of it nor the appreciation of their subjects. They simply cannot understand how my view could have rendered such breathtaking photographic images when they stood right next to me through the display. Their captured images pale in comparison to mine, leaving them confused, envious and frustrated.

I share my images with them, reliving the wonders before us as I play back my video footage from a mini projector that beams out of my watch.

Pablo was right

Thing is this. If Pablo Picasso realised that everything we imagine is real, then there must be an Atlantis for all of us - in all of us!

If beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, then I guess it's up to us to either change our view on life and appreciate the beauty around us, the dance of the whales and the school of golden fish. Alternatively we choose to live staring at a bucket of sea sand and water on the beachfront of our lives, wondering why the guppie's we've caught look so sad. It's not about perspective, it begins with appreciation.

Are you the friend that stares so long at the guppies that you miss the dolphins dancing in the waves? Are you the person that goes to work everyday staring at the flashy golden fish wondering when your ship is going to come in, failing to appreciate the dance of life that is happening before you?

Do you consider your perspective on things, assuming that you're grateful for the wonders around you yet still feel empty inside? Have you failed to realise that you are the beauty, you are the show and you are the dance?

Thank you Universe for the beauty that exists in my imagination.
I choose life. I choose appreciation for all things. I choose to see the beauty that is me and those around me.
