Cars, eye-candy & crappy reviews - Need for Speed 2014

There's no doubt I'm the black sheep in my family. My mom, dad and sister are all big bike lovers and riders and then - well, there's me.  While I prefer to have both feet firmly on the ground, I can appreciate the thrill of wanting to go fast on two wheels. Being a self professed control freak, there's no doubt I would handle that kind of risk on my own terms better than sitting passenger.

Thing is I've never really appreciated these fast car, furious speed movie genres. It's all slutty girls gathered at night time secret locations, men on the prowl after two things - leg over and race winnings. In my opinion, you've seen one car movie - you've seen them all!

Aaron & Imogen

If you're a Breaking Bad fan, you'll recognise lead actor Aaron Paul playing the role of Toby Marshall in this movie. Toby is a silent, smouldering character that slowly unravels from his hard exterior as the movie progresses. To be honest, he's probably trying very hard to remove the Jesse Pinkman type-cast attached to his Breaking Bad success, although in this movie their characters have many similarities albeit distinct differences. The longer you watch this movie, the more he grows on you. I've developed a bit of a crush actually and it's probably because he's looking more like an attractive, clean man and less like a Crystal Meth addict running from the law.

And then there's the lovely Imogen Poots. This young (24 year old) actress, graces our presence after her very bold and beautiful performance in That Awkward Moment, where she plays lead actress and love interest alongside Zac Effron. If you haven't seen either movie be sure to catch them both this weekend on circuit. I must be honest, I've developed a crush on her too and you would understand why if you've seen her in either role. She's this quirky and incredibly wholesome character (and most likely person in real life) that just oozes charisma. I relate to her in many ways with her dry wit, down to earth goodness and sharp retorts, although I don't think I could pull off the Brigitte Bardot hairstyle that contributes to her sex appeal. Can't wait to see more of her.

So what did I think?

Getting back to my lack of enthusiasm for fast cars and large, loud engines, I was personally very impressed with the movie. After seeing many movie reviews on YouTube and on the web, I can't understand what all the negative hype is about.

There have been comments relating to a poor story line, unrealistic scenes and low Box Office income, but in my opinion I found the movie to be both refreshing and entertaining. There were moments where I sat white knuckled at the edge of my seat, and I'm pretty sure I squealed on two occasions!

You'll enjoy the variety of cars, the incredible stunts, the eye candy and of course the surprise twists and turns. My advice - go with an open mind, don't compare it to any other illegal car racing movie you've seen before & be sure to watch it 3D.

If anything, you'll leave impressed by the value for money the movie holds. If you don't enjoy the movie, worse case scenario you leave with a crush. Sad to report Aaron Paul is married and Imogen Poots probably already has a best friend.

Theatre Advertising - 3D is the best option!

The new look Aaron Paul - stepping out of Jesse Pinkman character with the same amount of amazing talent.

Fall in love with Imogen Poots - wild hair and striking blue eyes.
