10 life lessons from Game of Thrones

I'd like to think Game of Thrones chose me - rather than believing that I had a conscious contribution to the life changing decision to start watching.

After a 6 month temporary leave of absence, I decided to reopen the series and carry on where I had left off prior to life having other plans for me. I realised that, ironically, there were plenty reflections as well as lessons, to be learned from the series. Life back in those medieval times were pretty, darn challenging.

Here's what we learned.

1. There's always someone who will trample on your happiness. Be stronger than those who choose to persecute you, justice prevails.

2. Those who live by the sword, die by the sword. If it's worth living for, it's worth dying for.

3. You don't have to be the biggest to be the bravest.

4. The scariest looking people are capable of kindness.

5. People who had nothing still survived and managed to procreate albeit being common peasants with no money or hospitals.

6. Your family can mean everything and nothing at the same time. What it means, depends on your own convictions.

7. Showing people mercy is the greatest attribute one could possess.

8. Being gullible will get you killed, with wisdom comes power (and survival).

9. A mothers love is a force to be reckoned with even as death is imminent.

10. Thank natural evolution and technology for allowing us hot baths, dry beds and marriages we willingly chose to participate in.
