Bridesmaids do it standing up

My sweet friend Alisha requested my attendance as her bridesmaid at my 30th birthday earlier this year. Almost as if I had been proposed to, I stood stunned for a second as my brain caught up and my mouth said "Yes!".

8 months later we're about the embark on the big day - literally tomorrow - Sunday 26th August 2012.  I'm reminded of just how expensive and exhausting weddings are as we plan and prepare for the big day. Over the last few months dress fittings, table decor and rehearsals have been on our agenda and I can only imagine how Alisha is feeling after all the careful attention to detail has been handled by Laurence and herself. 

There are 3 bridesmaids and 1 maid of honor. We'll be strutting down the aisle in our pink and silver attire tomorrow afternoon as we support and salute our friend as she journey's from single-dom to a married life. An amazing time in any man or woman's life, but specifically the bride-to-be. A day little girls fantasize about for ages, swirling around in moms old dress and shoes. 

Craig is the MC for the evening and we're both very excited to be contributing to the event. I'll be doing a short speech of which I'm hoping to hit home with my dry humor and thoughtful anecdotes of love and friendship.

Funny thing is that I find the more I'm surrounded by the planning of marriage, the more I relate to my own life and wedding. Dreams of proposals and guests lists have snuck into my daily life - I've been bitten by the wedding bug and its fun to dream. <3

Personally I'm really flattered and grateful to be selected as part of her entourage. If you knew the mixture of personalities that comprise the bridal party, you'd agree that its going to be one humdinger of an event.
